What Does the Drive Belt Do?

The driving belt is a critical component inside your powerhead. Its job is to:

• Transfer power from the motor to the brush roller
• Spin the brush to agitate carpet fibres
• Help lift dirt, hair, and debris from deep within carpets

Without a functioning belt, the brush roller won’t spin — meaning poor pickup and ineffective cleaning.

Signs Your Belt Is Worn or Broken

Drive belts wear out over time and should be replaced regularly. Common signs include:

• Brush roller stops spinning
• Reduced suction performance on carpet
• Burning rubber smell during use
• Vacuum sounds normal, but doesn’t clean effectively
• Visible damage or snapping of the belt

If the belt breaks completely, the powerhead will still run — but the brush will not rotate at all. 

When Should You Replace the Belt?

• Every 6–12 months (depending on use)
• Immediately if the belt snaps or stretches
• If you notice reduced cleaning performance
