The old idea that the harder it is to push the stronger is the suction is a thing of the past. Design is everything.
When it comes to pick up from hard floors, the bristles on the head attachments should be stiff enough not to bend under pressure but soft enough not to scratch your wood floors. a good balance is required, if the brushes are too soft this also probably means hair and fluff will catch on making it a hard task to clean.
